Mens 1957 DBR4' Official Gerry Marshall Classic Race Car T-Shirt

We have partnered with motorsport legend Gerry Marshall to produce an official range of t-shirts celebrating some of his greatest victories and most significant results.

This design features an Aston Martin’s Formula One car, designed for the 1957 season, but did not actually race until the 1959 season, by which time the front engine layout was being replaced by mid-engine cars. It had some limited World Championship points scoring success but was not a success and was replaced during the 1960 season. The car that Gerry Marshall raced was owned by Geoffrey Marsh, a long time Aston Martin enthusiast who went as far as having new engine blocks cast for the car. Gerry had raced several Historic Sportscars for Geoffrey and was invited to Goodwood to test the DBR4, along with Sir Stirling Moss and one of its original period drivers, Roy Salvadori. Sir Stirling and Roy were very taken with Gerry’s driving and recommended to Geoffrey that he would be much better placed to race the DBR4 than either of them would be, high praise indeed.  Gerry raced the DBR4 with great success and exuberance in 1981 winning, seven races and one second, giving him his class honours in the Lloyds and Scottish Historic Sports Car Championship, the highlight being winning the 1981 British Grand Prix support race at Silverstone. There were several further sporadic one off races and wins during the 1980s, before a more concentrated effort in 1990 with more wins and the overall SKF Engineering Production Historic Car Championship before Geoffrey retired the car.

Gerry Marshall was a British Motorsport Hero, starting racing in 1963 and competing up until his passing in 2005. He contested over 1,400 races, winning 625 and literally drove and won in anything and everything. He is sorely missed by the legions of fans that loved to watch his exuberant and flamboyant style on track and his escapades in the bars and clubhouses afterwards.
